Weston (Easton), CT was the USA`s first witnessed "meteorite" fall. Weston, an H4 stone ordinary chondrite, fell nearly 200 years ago on 14 DEC 1807, 06:30 hrs and is a very important Jeffersonian period fall. This event shocked Americans, stirred their politics and newspapers, and challenged the way that American science thought about stones falling from the sky. By 1824, the word "meteorite" was first formed (or used in print).
